At CNIT, we are absolutely committed to respecting and safeguarding the privacy of our visitors. For this reason we have defined this Privacy Statement. CNIT’s websites address to dissemination and communication purpose only. This Privacy Statement describes how we handle your personally-identifiable and non-personally-identifying information and account data that we collect directly and indirectly when you are visiting one of our Web sites.
By visiting our Web sites and using the Services you consent to the information and data processing practices described in this policy.
Data Processing Locations
Data processing associated with customer support for our Web site and Service is subject to Italian Laws. The data center where CNIT’s servers are housed is located in Italy.
CNIT collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. CNIT’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how CNIT’s visitors use its website. From time to time, CNIT may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. CNIT also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. CNIT does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.
Collection and use of anonymous information
Whenever you visit our Web sites, we also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, browser type, referrer page, domain name, access time, entry page, exit page, operating system type, and search engine keywords used. We may also record page views (hit counts) and other general statistical and tracking information. This information is collected automatically by our systems and requires no action on your part. With the exception of your IP address which is used to support various security related features, this information is not associated with your personally identifiable information.
We analyze and use this information with the only purpose to better understand how our Web sites and Services are used, to improve the value and userfriendliness of the Web site and to detect and resolve any technical problems. To help us record and understand the traffic through our Web site we may also use a third party service, such as Google Analytics or Web site page counters. In this case, absolutely no personally identifiable information is recorded by the third party service, nor associated with the aggregate anonymous information.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to CNIT’s websites choose to interact with CNIT in ways that require CNIT to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that CNIT gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for an account at CNIT’s web sites to provide a user-name and email address. Those who engage in transactions with CNIT are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary personal information. In each case, CNIT collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with CNIT. CNIT does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
CNIT discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to
those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that:
need to know that information in order to process it on CNIT’ behalf or to provide services available at CNIT’ websites, and
that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using CNIT’ websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. CNIT will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, CNIT discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when CNIT believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of CNIT, third parties or the public at large.
If you are a registered user of an CNIT’s website and have supplied your email address, CNIT may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with CNIT and our products. We expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. CNIT takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
We not specifically seek to collect sensitive personally identifiable information (such as data revealing political opinions, religious beliefs or data concerning health or sex life) through this site. If we do seek to collect such data, your prior consent hereto will be asked.
